The astonishing behaviors of her siblings, parents and grandparents sets the stage as we are introduced to her family’s endless manipulation and continuous plotting and twisting of the truth. Each character gives the listener an inside view of how they embraced and expressed the emotional and social deficiencies of their personalities and used them as a method of control, abuse, and extreme cruelty.
While this book presents a marked sadness throughout, it also offers a heartwarming sense of redemption and healing. The author/narrator never gives up on love, and learns to trust herself as she releases the trauma and negative energy that plagued her family for generations.
