    Inhaltsangabe

In this classic late-nineteenth-century story by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, a new mother suffering from what we might today call 'post-partum depression', is diagnosed with a nervous disorder.

Instructed to abandon her intellectual life and avoid stimulating company, she sinks into a still-deeper depression invisible to her husband, who believes he knows what is best for her. Alone in the yellow-wallpapered nursery of a rented house, she descends into madness.

    Early feminism (spoiler, I guess)

Although, I find it sad that so many feminist works have this deep sadness and helplessness attached due to the society we live in, I think this is a very important piece of literature and I enjoyed reading it.

Very relatable in the sense that I, too, would go mad if a man would rob me of my agency, belittle my mental health problems and force me to creep around in my own house like having interests and hobbies is wrong.
