    Inhaltsangabe

Sequel to the extraordinary The Name of The Wind, The Wise Man’s Fear is the second instalment of this superb fantasy trilogy from Patrick Rothfuss.

This is the most exciting fantasy series since George R. R. Martin's A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE, and a must for all fans of HBO's GAME OF THRONES. Picking up the tale of Kvothe Kingkiller once again, we follow him into exile, into political intrigue, courtship, adventure, love and magic . . . and further along the path that has turned Kvothe, the mightiest magician of his age, a legend in his own time, into Kote, the unassuming pub landlord. Packed with as much magic, adventure and home-grown drama as The Name of the Wind, this is a sequel in every way the equal to its predecessor and a must for all fantasy fans.

Engaging and gripping, The Wise Man’s Fear is the biggest and the best new fantasy novel out there.

    Audio: aac, 22050 Hz, stereo, 62 kb/s - Normal wäre: 44100 Hz, stereo, 125 kb/s

    Beautiful

The language, the performance, the story. All of it is beautiful. Anyone even remotely interested in Fantasy novels should give the Kingskiller Chronicles a try. Also as a woman it always makes me gleeful how well all the women are written.

    Best fantasy story there is!

Poetic, gripping, original, funny - I'm listening to it over and over again and it only gets better.

    Fantasy for the patient reader

If you read the prequel, Name of the Wind, you will realize that the pace and style of the story did not change much.
Readers, who expected a narrative, which would increase their heart rate a little bit, will be disappointed. There is not much action and the suspense is as lukewarm as it was in the first book.
Readers, who enjoyed the beautiful lanquage, the colorful and poetic description of the first book, will love this book as well.
The book consists of 2 parts, Kvothe at the University and Kvothe as an assistant of an aristocrat.
The University part is not different from the first book, the same friends, the same enemies, the same painful lovestory and of course the continuous struggle with poverty.
The scenery changes, when Kvothe becomes part of the entourage of an aristocrat and there are some dramatic developments, but as before, the suspense comes in small doses.

It is a lengthy, slow moving story, but there is a lot of beauty and style. To my surprise, some of the characters gain a lot more profile, a definite improvement versus the first part.

    Rupert Degas rockt!

    Eargasms!

Honestly, Patrick Rothfuss read by Mr Degas is just divine! The narration brings the many characters to life, male, female, young old, English speaking, with foreign accents or in demonic tongues, Degas masters them all.

Rothfuss is a superb storyteller. Language, syntax, style, characters and action, inner and outer worlds, it does not matter. He is an absolute genius when it comes to storytelling and I love his books, in writing and as audios.

And even if fantasy is not your favourite genre, like it is the case with me, Rothfuss is bound to become one of your favourite authors. The only other fantasy author I love this much is Catrin Russell (The Light of Darkness series). Get Rothfuss' entire series, best of all in every kind of edition, print, ebook and audio. You'll thank me for it later. You're welcome.

So many details - yet never boring.

This is an excellent story with so many intricate details about its main character, all of which build up to a climax yet to be told. At first I thought that I could not live through that many hours, but all that is told about the protagonist's life is exciting and makes you want to find out more. The idea of how magic works is new and brilliant as is the excursion into different cultures. The speaker does a great job switching into the characters. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and recommend it to all who like fantasy yet always seek for a new angle in the traditional genre.

    Not great, not terrible

This book is simply not as good as "The Name of the Wind". Several situations drag way too long with not much interesting happening, and then there are parts which are simply skipped with couple sentences.

Audible voiceover is good, except when there were oldman/beggar voices, those were very distorted/raspy and difficult to understand.
