Über diesen Titel

The Russian Revolution was as red as blood. The Bolsheviks promised that they were building a new society, a workers’ paradise that would change the nature of mankind itself. What they ended up constructing was the largest prison the world had ever seen: a Union of Soviet Socialist Republics that spanned half the globe.

It was a country where people's lives meant nothing, less than nothing—and they knew it. But no matter what atrocity that the Soviets committed—the secret police, the torture chambers, the show trials, the labor camps, and the mass starvation—there was always someone in the West rushing to justify their bloodshed. For decades, it seemed perfectly obvious that the USSR wasn’t going anywhere—until it vanished from the face of the earth, gradually, and then suddenly. This is the story of the rise and fall of that evil empire, and why it is so important for the good to never give up hope. This is The White Pill.

First of all: The book is awesome.
If you somehow made it here, get it.

But I really have to criticize how Michaelis reading it. The audio seems like it was recorded in a hurry, and after working on the book for so long he just wanted to move on.
After hearing him talk about how much this meant to him and how difficult it was to write at times, I really expected more.
And it really would have deserved more, especially since the book itself every bit as great as I wanted it to be.

Awesome book with somewhat lacking Aufiobook

Michael Malice has really outdone himeself with this book. It describes very vividly the absolute horror of the Soviet totalitarian system and how lucky the circumstances were that allowed Gorbatchov to tear it down. I love how he approaches it from different angles. He dedicatates a chapter to Ayn Rand, who fled the Soviet Union, and who's experience was dismissed. He also emphasises how much intellectuals, media and left-wing parties idealised the Soviet regime and how great their influence were in Western societies. Making one wonder whether the Cold War was nothing but a farce.
In the political struggles for freedom we find each other today we should never forget that even tough the communist regimes were so brutal, manipulative and omnipresent, they nonetheless lost!

fascinating and hopeful perspectiv by an Anarchist

Ungeschönt ehrlich und hart und dennoch ein Buch voll Hoffnung und Menschlichkeit!

No fiction novel will ever be more crazy and exciting than this history book. This book is a great reminder of the worst and best that humans are capable of. The only thing taking away from this breath taking book is that the reading tends to sound quite monoton. This made it hard to follow at times. Would love a version with a professional reader.
