Über diesen Titel

A Warhammer 40,000 novel.

Follow the exploits of Oltyx, who, having finally been granted the throne of the Ithakas Dynasty, now faces far greater threats, from within and without. He soon learns that the lessons of kingship are not quite what he had hoped.

Listen to it because: experience the tumultuous reality of ruling a necron royal court and battling the the Imperium from the perspective of an necron lord whose mind is split into discrete partitions.

The story: after centuries of exile, the necron lord Oltyx has at last been granted the thing he has always craved: the throne of the Ithakas Dynasty. Kingship, however, is not quite what he had hoped for - Oltyx's reign currently exists aboard the dying battleship Akrops, as it lumbers away from the ruins of his crownworld. Behind it is a hostile armada of unfathomable size, launched by the barbaric alien war-cult known as the Imperium of Man. And within the Akrops' sepulchral hold, an even greater threat festers - the creeping horror of the flayer curse. Faced with such overwhelming odds, Oltyx leads a desperate voyage into a darkness so profound that salvation and doom look much the same. If he and his dynasty are to make it through that long night, Oltyx will have to become a very different sort of king.

Written by Nate Crowley. Narrated by Richard Reed.

The two "Twice Dead King" novels are undoubtedly one of the more unique entries into the Black Library - and elevate the setting that is usually renowned for it's comically over-the-top "Grimdarkness" to almost philosophical heights. Who would've thought that self-acceptance would be one of the bigger themes in a story about insane robots from the future who wear human skin as cloaks? And... who would've thought that it actually works?

Without wanting to spoil anything, "Reign" manages to find a fitting conclusion to this look into the oft bespoken "Newcrons".

The voice actor does a great job bringing the different characters to life and manages even in the sometimes confusing gallery of faux-egyptian sounding names that a listener instantly knows which character is speaking.

If you've read the first one, definitely pick this one up, too. And if you haven't - well, you know what to do.

A fantastic tale finds a worthy end

While the story might differ in some aspects from the lore given by the current Necron Codex, it is still much fun to listen to due to the excellent narration.

A must read/hear for Necron fans

It is really good, but also flawed writing. It is easy to get lost in the battles and so on, specially since it is an audiobook

Good but easy to get lost in it
