Der Sprecher spricht ein klares Englisch und unterscheidet die sprechenden Personen erkennbar, aber nicht übertrieben.
Inhaltlich kommt das Buch einem Mix aus der Matrix-Trilogie, Orwells 1984 und den Nicholas Linnear-Büchern von Eric van Lustbader nahe. Anderswo werden Vergleiche zu Dan Browns 'Illuminati' gezogen, meiner Meinung nach ist jedoch eher 'Illuminatus' von Shea/Wilson passend. Ähnlich wie dort strebt die Gemeinschaft der 'Tabula' die totale Kontrolle durch Überwachung und Abschaffung des Zufallsprinzips an. Dieser Kontrolle entziehen sich die Traveler durch einen absichtlich vom Zufall beeinflussten Lebensstil jenseits von leicht zu überwachenden Kreditkarten, Bankkonten und Festnetzanschlüssen. Da die Traveler so nicht zu kontrollieren sind, versuchen die Tabula jeden Traveler zu ermorden dessen sie habhaft werden.
Dem widersetzt sich die Gemeinschaft der Harlequin, die Schutzmacht der Traveler.
