The Traitor concludes the ruthless and gripping epic fantasy series from New York Times bestseller Anthony Ryan, whose books have sold more than a million copies worldwide.

It's been a long journey for Alwyn Scribe. Born a bastard and raised an outlaw, he's now a knight and the most trusted advisor to Lady Evadine Courlain. Together they've won countless battles and helped to bring order to a fractured kingdom.

Yet Evadine is not the woman Alwyn once knew. As puritanical fury increasingly replaces her benevolent faith, Alwyn begins to question what her true motives really are.

As the kingdom braces itself for one final battle, Alwyn's conscience fights its own war with his heart. Now, more than ever, he must decide whose side he's really on.

[A] masterful conclusion to Ryan's Covenant of Steel epic fantasy trilogy . . . Ryan's thoughtful characterizations and complex plotting are on clear display, enhanced by his evocative prose

The book is just fine. The narator as well. But the SOUND is horrible. Sounds like Lars Ulrichs snare drums. sheesh.

Hard to listen to

Compelling, gripping story which delivers a worthy end to a great saga. Or is it the end at all? Hoping for more to come. :)

A worthy end

While Blood Song might still be Anthony Ryan's best book (and I have read pretty much everything he has written), this is his best series. Highly recommended to anyone who enjoys clever intrigue and politics, reluctant heroics by a flawed but very relatable main character and particularly towards the second half of this last book, a good dose of fantasy. The first book is more of a medieval drama with only glimpses at the supernatural while the last one is much more overt in this respect, but this also allows the story to be nicely closed and fully explained. Same as with Vaelin Al Sorna's tale though, I suspect we might learn more from Alwyn Scribe and his family in some offshoot asthere is another story hinted at but not told.

Fulfilling end to an awesome trilogy

Anthony Ryan, as always, delivers a thrilling story set in a world that leaves you guessing what secrets are still out there. The narrator fits the atmosphere perfect.
