While some of these chapters had me ticking off a checklist and feeling relieved I was doing SOMETHING right, others had me seeing my toddlers in a completely new way and I can say with certainty that I will be revisiting several chapters more than once.
I knew before I had children that I didn’t want to parent with anger and had done so much research on authoritative parenting before I even got pregnant that I felt (perhaps too) confident when my little one came around. However, nothing can prepare anyone for the mental strain of sleepless nights and emotional triggers from your own traumatic childhood.
Having been raised in a rage household I find it hard to think logically in times of conflict and find myself feeling angry and at a loss because I don’t know what to do but I know what I AM doing (either nothing, withdrawing, or getting cross with my little ones) was definitely not it. Being able to look beyond and try to understand them more and know the responses that are most logical to them not only helps them, it helps stop me from going into a shame spiral every evening after they’ve gone to bed, and waking up regretful hoping against hope that I’m not traumatizing them the way I was.
Listening to Laura narrate her own book was so refreshing and she is very pleasant to listen to. Thank you for taking the time to write this book I know it will help so many parents and budding toddlers. I would give this more stars if I could.

So insightful and incredibly helpful
