Glad I opened this door to wonderful new worlds created by Erin Morgenstern! "The Starless Sea" is composed of various stories, vignettes and mythical scenes, connected to one another, woven into one another. Each strand has its own narrator in this audiobook, which allows for diverse voices, male and female ones, and different accents. This allows for a stronger connection to each character as well as their backgrounds/locations. The performers make the fictional world(s) come alive, ignite a passion for the stories. This passion for stories also runs through the whole novel, which is about creating, reading, loving and recording/preserving stories, but also about creating one's own story. Book lovers should definitely open the door, maybe they'll find the Starless Sea...

A door to a wonderfully crafted world

Ein Fehler ist aufgetreten. Bitte versuche es in ein paar Minuten noch einmal.
Schade :-/ Ich war großer, großer Fan von Erin Morgensterns Erzählung "the Night Circus" und konnte es kaum erwarten ein zweites Buch von ihr zu hören. Leider zieht mich diese Geschichte nicht annähernd so sehr in ihren Bann. Vermutlich liegt es an dem Format der Geschichte, die in einem Hörspiel zum Teil schwierig nachzuvollziehen ist. Die Perspektiven wechseln, es gibt Vor- und Rückblicke, was in einem Buch ggf. deutlicher durch unterschiedliche Typo oder Kapitel erkennbar ist. In diesem Hörspiel empfand ich es eher als verwirrend. Zum Ende hin wird dies durch verschiedene Spreche deutlicher und dann auch angenehmer/verständlicher zu hören. Insgesamt konnte ich der Geschichte zum Ende hin besser folgen.

Die Geschichte hat, sofern ich es verstanden habe, die "Seele von Erzählungen" als Thema. Deren mystische Schöpfung, bei deren Entstehung und Beendung Aussenstehende bewusst oder unbewusst Hilfestellung geben. Ich kann mir vorstellen, dass diese fast philosophische Betrachtung literarisch Bewanderte Hörer*innen verzaubert. Ich hoffe einfach auf die nächste Geschichte von Erin Morgenstern :-)
