When the body of a woman is found in the mountains of Harney County, Oregon, Sheriff Josh Matthews is drawn from the longest night of his life to investigate. A suspect is quickly located and the case seems cut and dried. But there have been other murders in this sheriff’s county, and they remain unsolved.
Gail Cruz had spent most of her career in the big city. Now time and chance have brought her to the small logging town of Burns, Oregon as a reporter and columnist. When meager backyard stories suddenly give way to a murder investigation, Gail’s intuition is not convinced that the right man is on trial.
