Dieses Buch habe ich das erste Mal vor wahrscheinlich vor knapp 28 Jahren das erste Mal in der Hand gehalten. Ich habe noch in Erinnerung, dass ich nicht sehr begeistert gewesen war. Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob ich es damals überhaupt bis zum Ende gelesen habe.

Heute muss ich sagen, dass ich meine damalige Meinung dazu nicht mehr nachvollziehen kann.

Keine der Novellen will hier mehr sein als sie sind, nämlich die Vorgeschichte des Folgebandes Dragons of Summer Flame und Charakterstudie der nächsten Generation der Abenteurer. Dabei ist der Schreibstil wunderbar unaufgeregt und dennoch unterhaltsam.

Die Darstellung der Geschlechterrollen der in der dritten Story ("Wanna bet?) fand ich ziemlich problematisch. Insgesamt ist diese Geschichte auch der Schwachpunkt der Sammlung. Sie passt weder thematisch, noch von der Stimmung her ganz in die Reihe.

Insgesamt habe ich mich aber sehr gut unterhalten gefühlt und bin gespannt, wie das Ganze im nächsten Band aufgelöst wird.

Introduction and preparation for the Dragons of the Summer Flame. It is not bad, and it is giving an interesting background into some characters, we encounter later. And of course, last story is dedicated to the elves, and I have to say that them reminds me strongly about the Romulans.
