A story of just about two days and a half. There are two things I particularly liked about this book: for one thing it doesn't get any less gripping once you have realised what the evil is all about (and it thankfully doesn't get tediously overexplained), and also the characters! I really liked the way the characters were treated, you get the feeling you know them personally: some are an open book and you get all their backstory, others are cryptic or just foreign to the point of being almost nameless.
Really liked this one, well written horror is always a (somewhat rare) treat.

Great Thriller

I wish I stopped listening to this. The Ruins starts promising with a group of people out on a mission to find a missing friend. Unfortunately the story quickly starts to feel unsatisfactory and later on incredibly empty. Nothing groundbreaking ever happens, no one ever accomplishes anything good or figures out anything of greater meaning. The characters to me were just frustratingly annoying with their constant complaints, fights and bad decisions. There wasn't any great friendships or relationship to be witnessed, just an average whiny bunch of people stuck on a hill together. If you are into pointless gore and stories without any good conclusions or explanations this one is for you.
