The author assumes to now the will of god, which is usually a red flag for me, but it’s obvious that he wants the book to appeal to a wide audience, and has no time to enter into semantics about god and his/her will. Besides that the book is captivating and densely packed with wisdom. I also like that he referencing at least some other authors, like Albert Schweitzer or John Bunyam.

Much better than expected

This book is a call to me to reconsider my life in relation to God's purpose for me and for others. It has made me ask my self many uncomfortable questions. This book will challenge you, it will make you uncomfortable. It will surpress your selfish ambitions and make you realise how awesome God's love and purpose is for our lives.

Really Great Book in making one think of life

Was braucht dieses Hörbuch, um für Sie zu einem 4- oder 5-Sterne Hörerlebnis zu werden?

Der Autor begründet sämtliche Thesen anhand von Passagen aus der Bibel und verstrickt sich dadurch in einer Fülle von rückwärts gerichteten Ansichten. Wenn Sie glauben, daß Christen nach einer Scheidung in die Hölle gehören, dann liegen sie ziemlich genau auf einer Wellenlänge mit Rick Warren. Er macht sehr deutlich, daß die Menschen nicht bibeltreu genug leben und beschreibt einen Gott, der nicht großzügig und liebend ist, sondern geradezu blutrünstig und strafend.

Die Art wie Warren vorliest gleicht einer sehr aggressiv vorgetragenen Predigt, so daß die Negativität seiner Botschaft noch mehr schlechte Stimmung zurückläßt, als der reine Inhalt allein bereits tun würde. Er liest immerhin ziemlich deutlich, so daß sich keine Verständnisprobleme ergeben, deshalb immerhin zwei von fünf Sternen für den Sprecher.

Extrem konservativ

Ziemlich repetitiv und unfundiert. Fairerweise muss ich sagen, dass ich nach 10 Minuten aufgegeben und mein Investment in dieses Hörbuch abgeschrieben habe. Aber jeden zweiten Satz mit "The Bible says:..." zu beginnen, entspricht - gelinde gesagt - nicht meinen Erwartungen.

Wer einigermaßen aufgeklärt ist und sollte sich den Kauf ernsthaft überlegen.

Scheinbar bin ich nicht die Zielgruppe...

Das Buch wurde in einer Michael Phelps Dokumentation genannt - entsprechend habe ich es mit völlig falschen Erwartungen hier geholt. Leider eine extrem altmodische Bibel-Zitat Abhandlung, die wirklich jeden Buchstaben wörtlich zu nehmen scheint. Für mich völlig nutzlos.
