I enjoyed the story, but the reader just overacts. Her voice isn't very pleasant but that's not as bad as her overacting.

The stories are amazing and I can only recommend reading them before the books. They give the characters a lot more depth and background stories. I can only assume that's why they were written. Promise of Blood is very much plot driven, not by character development or an exploration of background stories. You only get a few hints why characters act and react a certain way, the clues are easily missed making the characters motivations and emotions hard to follow. However these novellas are about the events leading up to PoB and the characters lives and developments. You get a good grasp of their history and personality especially Tamas.

I don't like the voice of the reader, just a personal preference. She does a good job.

Just as good as the novels! I LOVE everything about this series! More powder mages, please! Also, I loved Julie Hoverson. I usually don't enjoy the female voice (no idea why) but I really liked her!
