Everyone Jackman cares about is in danger. Alongside the hunt for Ashcroft, however, normal police work must continue. The separate thefts of six pigs, a thoroughbred stallion, guns and some oil lead Jackman’s crew to the notorious Lorimer family, ruled over on their farm by the fearsome matriarch Rachel.
Meanwhile, a seemingly routine break-in at the home of gun-club owner Kenneth Harcourt quickly becomes more complicated when the man long held responsible for having killed Harcourt’s young daughter in a hit-and-run is shot dead in a car park - by a sniper. A killer is on the loose in the quiet streets of Saltern-le-Fen, and he isn’t going to stop at claiming one life. But why is he focusing on young Kevin, so close to promotion to detective?
And the sniper, like Ashcroft, takes to taunting the police: they’ll never catch him, they need to respect him, they shouldn’t be sidetracked looking for their old adversary.
In a stunning conclusion, Jackman and Evans race against time to catch the sniper and track down their deadly adversary. A lethal game with a very patient man. Großartig!
The Patient man ist für mich eine der spannendsten Folgen aus der Jackman & Evans Serie. Und Richard Armitage ist hier nach meiner Meinung zu Hochform aufgelaufen. Speziell Rory (in diesem Fall "Titania, Queen of the Faries") war ein echtes Highlight! Es ist so ein Vergnügen ihm zu zuhören!!!

Once again a top story and a top reader.
Jackman and Evans number six. Just as good as the first five and looking forward to number seven.

The best so far.
This imho is the best “Jackman & crew” book in the series so far. Made great listening while driving without having to concentrate too hard. No point in raising criticism as I didn’t put the effort into writing it. Very enjoyable, thanks to the author and the audible performance.

A Joy as always
As usual: good story, excellent narrator and certainly a nice showdown between the main characters and their old adversary.
It's maybe not the most brilliant plot this time but Richard Armitage makes it absolutely worthwhile.

Best one yet
All of the books in this series are great but The Patient Man is the best one yet. The characters are wonderfully drawn and as the stories go on they reveal more and more depth. The crime stories keep me guessing and in this instalment a truly evil character finally gets his come-uppance. I'm looking forward to listening to the next book.
Richard Armitage is doing a marvelous job here, as is to be expected.

my fav trio: Armitage&Jackman&Evans
Another brilliant performance by Richard Armitage of a great story...eagerly awaiting the next of my fav series by the fabulous Joy Ellis. Really do hope this will be made into a TV series in the near future!

We have a future
Joy Ellis gelingt hier ein großartiger Krimi, mit Scharfschützen und gestohlenen Gewehren, für mich bislang der beste aus der Jackman und Evans Reihe. Richard Armitage übertrifft sich selber, Jackman ist tief und dunkel, der Fiesling Ashcroft überraschend sanft gesprochen. Die beschränkte Familie Lorimer, die im Verlauf der Handlung immer mehr Tiefe gewinnt, spricht er mit breitem Slang, sehr passend und faszinierend. Rührend ist der jüngste Sohn Jacob mit dem gestohlenen Zuchthengst Nimbus dargestellt (animal farm). Dass Joy Ellis hier auch die zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen z.B. bei Laura und Jackmann und Kevin Stoner mit Alan ausbaut, trägt sehr zur Überzeugungskraft des Thrillers bei. Nur die arme Marie hat immer noch keinen neuen Partner, aber immerhin ein neues Motorrad. Der nächste Band liegt schon bereit!

A bit of a bore
I never read the sequels previous parts but the author described the culprit so well that its was obvious all along what’s going to happen and why. No surprises , no blows . I expected more
