Great book, reads like a novel

Am meisten fasziniert war ich aber von den sehr ungewöhnlichen Brüchen in Johnson's Charakter, der auf der einen Seite ein wohl wirklich unangenehmer Zeitgenosse und vor allem Arbeitgeber sein konnte, zugleich aber von dem Wunsch getrieben war, seine Macht zum Wohle der Ärmsten und Machtlosesten einzusetzen.
Höhepunkte sind u.a. die Beschreibung des Hill Country, Lyndon B. Johnson's Zeit als Lehrer sowie seine Wahlkampf-Tour-De-Force für einen Sitz im Kongress.
Wer sich auch nur ansatzweise für Politik interessiert, kommt an dieser Biografie nicht vorbei. Der Sprecher ist ausgezeichnet.
