Über diesen Titel
Someone is following me. I’m not imagining it. I’m not crazy.
Charlie Falkingham is convinced someone is stalking him. There are signs. There are clues. But no one believes him. After living through a childhood horror, Charlie suffers from a severe paranoia disorder, among many things, and the Hamilton Police Department has labeled him the boy who cries wolf.
When the only person in the department who ever listened to Charlie’s concerns retires, who can Charlie reach out to for help?
Arrogant and young, Officer Takoda Dyani has a chip on his shoulder a mile wide. He’s rude and brash and doesn’t play well with others. He has more enemies than friends. When his senior officer assigns him to be Charlie’s consultant, Takoda knows it will end badly. He doesn’t have time to coddle a prissy rich boy.
However, if he can’t calm Charlie’s paranoid delusions and act civil for once, he’ll lose his job.
But are they delusions?
The longer he knows Charlie, the more Takoda realizes something isn’t right.
Is someone really stalking Charlie, or is Takoda getting too wrapped up in Charlie’s world?

Charlie and Takota are very likeable and I liked how Takota takes care of Charlie. Very sweet and very suspenseful the whole time.
The two "steamy" encounters are not really hot and very, very vanilla, which fits the story and Charlie's disorder. But if you are looking for a hot story, you won't find it here.
I had tears in my eyes during the penultimate chapter and I finally heard the L-word as a happy ending during the last chapter 😃
Nick J. Russo does a marvellous job on so many different voices. Very well done!

But when his fear escalates because strange things start to happen in his vicinity, everyone thinks it’s only in his mind.
Everyone apart from Takoda, a beat cop with a chip on his shoulder.
This results in an intricate cat and mouse game per excellence that had me engrossed the whole time and guessing right until the end.
I loved the MCs and their journey.
Charlie’s past is horrifying and unimaginable. His severe trauma truly broke my heart. To imagine a kid experiencing what he did and then losing himself inside his mind, not speaking for years is horrible. To see a person creating a whole universe to escape the real world because he can’t stand being there is frightening. That he still needs to be there years later.
Takoda slowly goes from an angry, arrogant guy who despises privileged people to the only person believing Charlie and wanting to protect him at all costs. I loved his unwavering honesty and how, little by little, he was able to pull Charlie out of his self imposed prison.
How we get little glimpses of the person Charlie would’ve been, if not for his past. I loved how Takoda slowly puts Charlie’s needs first and step by step, unknowingly, ups Charlie’s confidence.
Nick J. Russo put all his emotions behind the narration and really brought Charlie and Takoda to life. I could feel Takoda’s anger and Charlie’s anguish and felt as if I were in the middle of it all. I really enjoyed listening to this story.
The only teeny tiny minor issue I had: I’d have wished for a little more variety in the side characters’ voices and intonations.
If you’re in the mood for opposites attract and hurt/comfort paired with excellent suspense, you definitely should listen to this!
4,5 stars for this outstanding romantic suspense
