Great to listen to.
compelling story. Interesting jumps from the present to past, through the character telling his story. looking forward to the next book. The speaker/reader took some getting used to. But after a few chapters, I found him really good.

Großartig
Die ersten zwei Teile der Königsmörder Chroniken habe ich nun in mehrfacher Hinsicht "durch". Gelesen auf Deutsch, gehört auf Deutsch, gelesen auf Englisch, Gehört auf Englisch. Bisher habe ich nur Herr der Ringe öfter als einmal gelesen. Aber Diese Serie wird und wird nicht langweilig. Diese unglaubliche Liebe zum Detail, die mitreißenden Charaktere, ... Einfach Großartig! Danke!

Absolutely Fantastic
This is not a fantasy novel. The Kingkiller Chronicle is simply the record of a different world unknown to us. At least it described so fully and in every detail that it cannot be made up. I am in awe of the story and in love with Kvothe.
Rupert Degas is a marvelous speaker. Kvothe's voice is strong and smooth but also the women are not squeaky as it sometimes happens. He is great with accents.
If you like a good story and don't mind a little magic, listen to this audio book. It will make dark winter nights cosy and rainy summer days light.

Very good Story
good production, a lot of different recognizable characters with obky one narrator. Always interesting with very little violence.

Großartig! Nur ein Pferdefuß...
Würden Sie dieses Hörbuch einem Freund empfehlen? Wenn ja, was würden Sie ihm dazu sagen?
Ein ganz wunderbares Hörbuch. Tolle Geschichte, tolle Figuren, fantastischer Sprecher. Das einzige Negative ist, dass es der Author mit dem letzten Teil auf sich warten lässt.

Amazing
Very impressive story with a dependable back and forth between 2 time frames. Good voice-acting by the narrator. In short a deep dive you do not wish to come out of.

Leaves you wanting for more!
Fast moving, entertaining story, with loads of mystery and suspense to keep you listening and definitely wanting to see the series through. Great for anyone enjoying a good fantasy novel that has some complexity but isn't too dense (i.e. in terms of the number of characters/relations among them and "universe" characteristics) to work as an audio book, which will inevitably often be listened to on the side. I am definitely excited to listen to book 2!

Great audio, average book
I heard nothing but praise for this book, and the world building and writing is (very) good. But the story is very meh: The protagonist is good at everything, except when the story needs him to not be; a lot happens and still nothing really happens, some stuff gets even annoying, at least to me (esp. the repeated money issues of Kvothe). I feel like some editing would have helped and then it also wouldn‘t need an unfinished trilogy to tell it all. :D
But! The audio production is outstanding, the voice performance very strong. Would definitely listen to other books by this narrator.

Fantastic Story, perfect reading performance!
I know the book, as I read it 3 times before I bought the audio version. now I listened 3 times to the audio version and it won't be the last time for sure! I just love the story and the reading performance!
