Über diesen Titel

For an American woman, a bad day of traveling turns into a compromising morning when she wakes up beside a naked nobleman in this Regency romance.

The surprise of her life

Sophisticated. Scandalous. In fact, Miss Sarah Hamilton, a proper Philadelphian, finds London society altogether shocking. How can it be that she has awakened from her innocent slumber to find herself in bed next to a handsome - and exceedingly naked - man? The laughing onlookers standing in the doorway are no help whatsoever and surely this amorous lunatic cannot be a duke, as he claims. She is compromised - though she most certainly will not marry him!

The sweetest moment of his

James, the Duke of Alford, is enchanted by his unexpected bedmate - and not at all afraid of her pink-cheeked fury. True, the circumstances and place of their meeting are most unusual, but the spirited American who's pummeling him with a pillow is an incomparable beauty. If Sarah will only listen to his perfectly reasonable explanation, James is sure that he can capture her heart...forever.

Contains mature themes.

Die Geschichte hat alles was ich an einer Regency-Story mag. Spannung, Erotik und Witz und obendrein eine tolle Sprecherin.

This book features a disturbingly graphic description of sexual violence and murder. Not what I'd expect from a regency romance.

Trigger warning

We have a heroine, a hero and a known-by-all villain. So, when the villain tells the hero a bunch of "secrets", dies the heroine go to the hero and says: hey, your evil cousin tells lies about you? Oh no. instead she thinks: Yes, he must be right. All the nice people I've met so far must be deceiving me and I have to run away from them. I'm worthless because I'm a redhead, so there is no way they actually like me.
So, if you like a story where the heroine wallops in self-pitty until (presumably, I didn't finish the story) the hero saves the day, this is fou you. If you prefer a strong heroine with a minimum of self-esteem who knows what she wants an acts accordingly, it is not.
Also, I didn't like the American accent of the narrator for an English novel. Unfortunately, it's not the voice of the American heroine, that has the accent. Her accent is no different from that of the British people. It's the narrating part, that has most of it.
