The story has an interesting lead - Jason isn't so much your lone-wolf-type agent and feels more emotionally aware. Sam on the other hand I like for his utter dedication to his job. I will admit that they seem like an unlikely couple at first, but they do grow on each other.
The crime story is pretty good as well. The investigators are in the dark for a long time, even though there is no shortage of suspects. The foreshadowing was done very well, only obvious in hindsight.
All in all an interesting story. I'm looking forward to part 2!
