THE STORY

... but once you reach the second half the story gets decent enough.
I still have to admit that this is by far the weakest Dawn of Fire Novel, only made bearable by a fantastic narrator.

A Very weak first half...

The worst of the Dawn of Fire books so far, the story is sadly a classic believe and you will win, all stages are just gone thanks to the god empire, in my opinion there are two B plots and not a major one, the first 3 hours were fine if you like classic battle warhammer. maby a historitor would have bin a nice spin.

There are short part with new character how are fun and I like but that max 30min of contant.

The only reason you should listen to it is for the small amount of story set up. you really like blacktampler and sister of battel or deathguard.

Maybe it was just bad timing, The Iron Kingdom was one of the best books in the series with a new story idea that was not just Empire vs. Chaos.

If you just like Battel or that type of story its a good listen but I only finished it because its part of the Dawn of Fire series.

Anfangs etwas eintönig und die Hauptstory ist nicht klar ersichtlich, weil es so viele Erzählstränge gibt. Am Ende löst sich das aber auf. Das actionreiche Finale macht den langweiligen Anfang wieder gut.

Alot of battle, no real plot twists, not super relevant for the rest of the story in my opinion, should have skipped this

Sprecher ist super, die Geschichte ist aber grenzwertig akzeptabel. Für mich waren nur die letzten ca 2 Stunden interessant, der Rest war einfach schlechte Und sich wiederholende Kriegsbeschreibung gewesen.

The first 2 books were almost perfekt, and i didn't understand why gw not started with them the primaris era. But the last two were just not good.

Not as good as the first few

As a big fan of the genre I had to listen all of it but by the Emperor its definitely the worst of the Indomitus books (so far). The book is 80% battle reports, 10% prayers (omnissiah, emperor or nurgle), 5% words like „praise be, duty, honour, glory, sacrifice, champion, brother, sister“ and the rest is real content that pushes the whole story a tiny bit further. Consider skipping the whole book in case you don’t like religious fanatics. You really don’t miss anything from the whole picture.

This is the most boring book of the series so far. It's a dragged out description of battles and gore with the variation of planetside and in space. As I happen to play both faction I hoped for some insight, but this is only a series of battles intercut with flashbacks of battles and suffering. The story holds absolutely no surprises so far. I still have two hours left and I will endure, just like the protagonists.

Bolterporn, don't expect more

John Banks does a marvelous job as the narrator, as he always does. But this book was rough. It is at least 50% too long, over 14 hours! So much could have been cut to make the pacing better. The first few hours are nothing but fighting, before we get to any meaningful story or characters. And between the Sisters and the Black Templars, they repeat prayers over and over and over throughout the book, it gets soo damn tiresome. Best aspect of the book is the Canoness. She is my favorite Sororitas character so far in Black Library, her story focusing on the trauma of long service and losing loved ones. It is the first time I have seen that a Sororitas does not glorify martyrdom, but shows how painful it is for the survivors and how the Church creates a fictional story to sell to the masses. Really good stuff, wish the book would have been just her story on a smaller scale. The Rogue Trader arrives far too late and the way she is written makes it seem like we have missed a far more interesting book with her backstory. As for the Dawn of Fire series, you can safely skip this one. Nothing happens that is important for the overall story. That would be perfectly fine if the book was good, but here we are. If you love the Sororitas and therefore don't mind hearing endless prayers, this book might be a good read for you. I hope it will be more fun for others.
