Like for real this is book 8 who wouldn't go for the next one? I personally hate cliffhangers but ok guess we have to wait.

God damn cliffhanger

Honestly it’s a good story but damn if the author doesn’t self-indulge. It is so frustrating when the protagonist is being turned into a moron for plot reasons. Basically stopping to have any reasonable thought at all while the reader has to endure the painful idiocy. Half the book is only planning steps and stat dumps. It’s truly mindboggling to see how little is actually interesting story.
That would all be okay if the ending wasn’t a complete mess. With not only a completely obvious „oversight“ and a these overly long internal monologues during battle, but all of this for a ridiculous cliffhanger ending without a single satisfying moment. Shame. This is one of the biggest FUs you can give to your readers.
Simple suggestion now: don’t read or listen to. The author doesn’t respect you.

I'm not sure whether the author knows this but it's absolutely legal that plans made by the MC before the end of the book are legally allowed to succeed once in a while. Because from book three on it seems that nothing ever goes to any plan and by now I have completely lost the overall narrative. I don't know who most of his companions are and why almost all of them are just annoying. Nobody seems to be able to communicate information clearly in a conversation.

The story is good, everything is told super cleanly but the progress is almost 0. the story is too artificially stretched. The waiting times somewhat disenchant the very good story.

I would like to see real progress next time without carrying over tasks from book 3 or 4 into a new book with a sudden ending. The title doesn't even fit. Nothing was reclaimed

Well, I'm curious to see how the story continues.
