The Lazarus Reports: The Carter Ranch Incident
Kansas, 1947. The war is over, the Cold War has begun, and something is hunting in the endless plains of rural America.
When brutal cattle mutilations and unexplained disappearances terrorize Black Hollow, Kansas, local authorities are overwhelmed by terror. Witnesses report hearing dead loved ones calling from the darkness, while farmers whisper of a towering figure stalking the night cornfields.
The FBI quietly dispatches three agents from a classified new program—The Lazarus Reports:
Special Agent Cody O'Connor: A decorated WWII veteran determined to separate fact from folklore.
Jeffery Mason: The Bureau's feared enforcer, known for ruthless efficiency.
James Hudec: A hard-nosed lawman convinced firepower can solve any mystery.
What starts as a routine investigation rapidly spirals. A rancher's son is found with impossible wounds, voices echo from the dark, and an ancient predator awakens in the abandoned Hollow Fields. Capable of mimicking the dead and manipulating the living, the creature threatens to turn Black Hollow into a ghost town.
To stop it, the agents must unearth the truth buried beneath generations of local legend.
The Carter Ranch Incident is the first installment in The Lazarus Reports—a Cold War paranormal thriller blending FBI noir, supernatural horror, cryptid folklore, and small-town mystery.
Some legends are warnings. Some legends are real.
