Better than the first. The characters are more developed, and the storyline feels more natural this time, less random in how they get caught up in the adventure. The cliffhanger ending makes me want more, and quickly!

Kristin Atherton delivers The Lady’s Road Guide to Utter Ruin with an impressive blend of elegance, emotion, and precision. Each character comes vividly to life – from Lady Augusta’s fierce determination to Julia’s gentle intelligence. Atherton balances the story’s satire, tension, and quiet irony with remarkable grace.
The narration is slightly faster than in the first volume, but at a playback speed of 90–95% the pacing feels perfect. This allows her articulate delivery and expressive range to shine.
Atherton captures both the darkness and tenderness of the novel – she doesn’t just read the story, she inhabits it. A rich and immersive listening experience that combines historical depth with literary quality. I sincerely hope she will return to narrate the third book.

Ein bisschen schmalzig ab und an und ein Hauch zu viel Geschmachte, aber es macht immer noch Riesenspaẞ zuzuhören.
Der hoffentlich bald erscheinende dritte Teil wird mit Sicherheit sehr spannend, und ich vermute, dass die liebe Frau Schwägerin auch noch viel Unruhe stiften wird.
