Amazing Book

I bought this book as I was interested in starting to invest in stocks but I got more than I bargained for. I truly believe that everyone should read this book before investing not just in stocks but any kind of business. The book is situated for any level of investor,the commentary at the end of every chapter makes it easier and clearer to understand. As an entrepreneur,the book also gives you insight on what kind of aspects defines your business as successful and what your business image and culture should be built on.

Timeless advice for everyone

A truly timeless book, that offers insights and guidelines to everyone that wants to invest, whether passively or actively. It has to be said, that the book probably requires some prior knowledge otherwise it will be a little overwhelming. If you have never even heard of indices, funds and P/E ratios you might want to do some sort of basic reading before listening. Everything is easy to digest and a pleasant reader makes it a relaxing experience.

All you need, to know how to invest your savings

I started putting some money on the side from my income, but at today's interest rates (less than 1%), I didn't know where to keep the money without having it erode by inflation. This book gave me the answer.

Spoiler: The answer is putting it into a well-diversified ETF (I chose MSCI All Country World) with a dollar-cost averaging plan, and keep doing it when the markets are down, especially when the markets are down.
That's if you're not an enterprising investor. I certainly am not.

Experienced Advice, Questionably Conveyed

If you are here, there is a good chance you are wondering whether you should read (or, listen to) the legendary book. For an early-out answer: I can't think of a reason not to.

Graham gives a large-scale, long-term, empirical overview over the behavior of securities markets, as well as various examples of the results and pitfalls investors must expect. He repeatedly warns about the gambling allure of wild speculation – and for very good reasons, which stay every bit relevant today. The meticulous analyses convey not only many real world examples, but also Graham's approach of making cool-headed, quantitative decisions, the merits of which have by now been enshrined into the public mind by his student, Warren Buffet. If this is not enough of a recommendation, I am not sure what else could be.

That said, the audiobook has some presentation issues. It is very number-heavy, making it difficult to convey in sound. Explanations seem to come out of order at times which, combined with the excessively US-centered world view, creates needless obstacles for a modern, international audience. And the commentary chapters by a different author make for a strange, overly flashy half-imitation of Graham's style, often reiterating exceptionally insane examples from the .com bubble. The book also stops asking why on a medium level of abstraction, using arbitrary rules rather than ultimate, mathematical explanations for its risk profile recommendations. These rules are not bad per se, but an inquiring reader might have preferred references to statistical theory.

If you pick this book to listen to the words of an old master, you probably expect some quirks like this, and will enjoy the wisdom of a great investor, taken from many decades of experience.

Practical Investment Guide

Many seemingly more popular and easier to comprehend books refer to this fundamental work of Benjamin Graham. It is entertaining to listen to and easy to understand even if one is unfamiliar with numbers and calculations. The book changes the view on the whole financial market even if it is based on experience from the fifties, sixties ans seventies. But Benjamin Graham also points out that the market in general is not based on his wisdom but on trying to look into the future. Some things never seem to change...

Sehr gutes Buch. Man muss es öfters hören.

Man muss es öfters hören um den ganzen Inhalt zu verstehen. Gerade um mit der Börse anzufangen ist dies eine gelungene Informations Quelle.
