Über diesen Titel

Emmy Award-winning actress Tatiana Maslany narrates a brand-new special edition recording of the first audiobook in the worldwide best-selling trilogy from Suzanne Collins!

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to death before - and survival, for her, is second nature. Still, if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

This special edition audiobook includes a bonus track Q&A with Tatiana Maslany!

Tatiana reads the book so great, her reading is very lively and emotional, it fits perfect in the story. I enjoyed the hearing and looking forward to the next books.

Fantastic book and reading

First off: The spreaker. She is absolutly incredible! I've heard a fair share of audiobooks (english and german) with okay speakers, good and great speakers. But Tatiana Maslany became my favourite instantly. I felt she elevated this great book to a whole new level for me, like a wonderfull soundtrack defines the experience from a movie.
For the book itself - it is definitely worth it. Yes, it's a book for young adults, but it never really felt like one in any bad way. More just like a book about young people who by default are immature at times. The story is captivating, quick paced. A bit straight forward perhaps, but still with enough emotional depth. I really liked it, I am looking forward to hearing the other two, and I definitely get, why it's a bestseller.

An Experience

I had watched the movie first and thought the novel couldn't really add much. I was wrong, not just a little, but a lot. The performance by Tatiana Maslany is probably one or maybe the best I have been able to experience. Wonderful!

Marvellous speaker

Captivating, incredibly immersive and beautifully read/voice acted. Wonderful story brought to live by Tatiana.

Full immersion

It took me quite a long while to give this book a try even though it came out when I was a teenage girl. But I guess I was put off by the premise, because I don't handle graphic violence very well. I also watched the movies first because it seemed like less of a commitment. Turns out the violence was fine for my tolerance levels.

Now, that I saw that there is an audiobook read by Tatiana Maslany whom I adore and kind of miss since Orphan Black, I had to listen to the actual book. And it was great! She is amazing, even though she was new to audiobook reading then. I think what she does best is how she puts emotion and the illusion of Katniss’s physical movement into her voice. When she sang as Katniss being heartbroken, she had me bawling.

The story is at once filled with external conflict and the well written inner life of Katniss. She is completely believable in her survival skills, but also in her uncertainty when it comes to navigating her relationships with people in the arena and back home. And in her difficulty with playing a part in front of the cameras.

To me the most impactful thing to see was that the kids with their differing sets of knowledge and skills COULD work well together. They COULD even learn to understand each other despite their class differences etc. and despite them being kept apart in their districts. It’s just because of the rules of the game that they’re forced to fight each other instead.

Tatiana Maslany + Hunger Games = Emotional Ride
