Hassan Haji, a boy from Mumbai, embarks, along with his boisterous family, on a picaresque journey first to London and then across Europe, before they ultimately open a restaurant opposite a famous chef, Madame Mallory, in the remote French village of Lumiere.

If you enjoy good food, you will like this book

It's not just the well-told saga of an Indian family and the heartwarming development of friendship in France, the country in which they decided to live and cope with all hardships. (It is up to Indians to decide whether their culture is described authentically.) It is also the account of the race for Michelin stars and what they mean for the rise and fall of restaurants that makes the book good reading and leaves you wondering about the power they are allowed to have.
