Ich muß gestehen, ich bin als Deutscher äußerst zufällig auf dieses Buch gestoßen, aber die weiten des Internets sind kaum greifbar. Ich wollte es mir erst als Paperback kaufen, aber als Nicht-Nativsprechender Leser kamen mir die Seitenzahl dann doch etwas viel vor und ich überlegte, ob es das Buch vielleicht sogar als Hörbuch gäbe - und siehe da, den Titel gibt es auch auf Audible. So kann ich entspannt auf der Couch liegen und zuhören, der Sprecher ist auch für mich klar verständlich und ich kann meine ohnehin schwächer werdenden Augen schonen. Die Geschichte ist brutaler als gedacht und keine harmlose Kinderbettgeschichte wie "Der Hobbit", das ist natürlich Geschmackssache. Aber wer Fantasy und insbesondere die Serie "Game of Thrones", der wird seine wahre Freude daran haben.

I must confess, as a German, I stumbled upon this book quite by chance, but the vast expanse of the internet is hard to grasp. Initially, I wanted to buy it as a paperback, but as a non-native speaker, the page count seemed a bit overwhelming, and I wondered if there might be an audiobook version - and lo and behold, the title is available on Audible. This way, I can lie back comfortably on the couch and listen; the narrator is also clearly understandable for me, and it helps to rest my eyes, which are getting weaker anyway. The story is more brutal than I expected and not a harmless bedtime story like "The Hobbit"; of course, that's a matter of taste. But anyone who enjoys fantasy, especially the "Game of Thrones" series, will truly appreciate it.
