Some lengths too, but not so bad. In turn the characters have space to develop. I am looking forward to the next book of the series :)

The story is realy good. A who done it with nicely spun web of suspects. The readers adapt voices for each character to follow them easily. Heard it through in one take.

The universe is the same, set in the Twin Cities, MN. Regarding the timeline, this book is set after Lila's and Joe's first case, but before she graduates law school (book 2).
We get to know more about the past of homicide detective Max and the death of his wife, as well as the Innocent Project's law professor and his family. Lila appears as law student and the professor's research aid, while Joe is just mentioned once as working for AP.
The case itself is not really exciting; I was always hoping for Joe's involvement and disappointed when finding out he's not going to enter the scene, as opposed to Audible's (?) suggestion "Joe Talbot 3".
I find the narrator's strong southern accent, which he applies to almost all characters, quite annoying - taken into account that the story is set in a northern state.
