Über diesen Titel

To anyone looking on, it would appear that a certain very young count is beset by too many enemies, especially considering that his Gift has nothing to do with combat. It’s as if the northern region that houses his county is a magnet for offworld invaders. But his enemies also include his competitors, and, of course, neighboring aristocrats who seek to seize the lands and assets of this impudent upstart, this Count Bulatov.

Only what does the count himself think about all this? It would seem that he shrugs off any concerns. You see, he knows full well that it is he who is a threat to his enemies. And if they fail to understand this, that's their problem.

The worst book in the entire series. There are many things that bother me about this series—for example, the bad/stupid villains, the useless Emperor, the illogical and ridiculous laws, yadda yadda yadda—but it’s okay because I like the main character and want to see how the story continues. However, there is just one thing I absolutely cannot stand: the ending of this book. Some wannabe Baron participates in the Emperor’s competition, where you’re supposed to capture as many enemies from the "other world" as possible and hand them over for prize money and a medal. This guy does his absolute best: he goes into battle, sacrifices his own loyal people to capture as many as possible, and even goes into debt to buy up prisoners from other nobles. He gives it his all but still only lands in 2nd place. So, he gets the idea to kill 1st place (our main character) by shooting down his plane while he's on his way to the capital for the award ceremony. And I’m just sitting there thinking: "Man, did the author drop on his head or something?"The Baron wouldn't even get the prize anyway! Even if 1st place dies, the winners have already been decided. Everything that happens after that also sucks. I was so frustrated while listening to it—and, of course, another cliffhanger.
