The superficial scifi-creates-monsters story is quickly and quite obviously made interesting by the philosophical questions it poses for the listener to ponder. Skillful art!

A well written novel by Nick Harkaway. In style, I think his later novels, like Gnomon, are somewhat better than this (perhaps too much fluff and language peacock-style show off at times in this one), but all in all, great experience which I enjoyed thoroughly. The reader was great too, with impersonation of characters at places and all. 👍️

The Gone-Away World is a story about a completely changed world, loss, friendship, and love of life. It‘s spiced up with kung fu, a lot of humor and a mystery. The characters are drawn with love and an eye for detail.
