Beschreibung von Audible

I remember getting lost in Disney World when I was about 9 - the age of the girl in the latest from Stephen King. The crowd, which would have been exhilarating had I been holding my father's hand, seemed incredibly chaotic, since my hands instead were pushing my way through a swarm of elbows. Trisha loses her family in the wilderness of the Appalachian Trail and finds the lack of people terrifying. Her Walkman and broadcasts of Red Sox games, and in particular her hero relief pitcher Tom Gordon, are what bring her comfort. But for both Trisha and I, the lesson is the same: don't stray far from the path. King teaches us this lesson by playing with our deepest fear - that of the unknown, from not knowing if a berry will nourish or poison us to wondering which direction will lead to civilization to a final encounter with something wild beyond our imaginations. Reader Anne Heche, an actress I've admired now in Return to Paradise and I Know What You Did Last Summer, brings us in my opinion her best performance. I hope to hear many more from her. (Teresa C.)
