Teil 1-3. Fantasy at its fines mit einem Abstrich.

Michael Kramer ist der beste Sprecher, den ich kenne. Jeder Charakter erhält seine unverwechselbare und fast immer passend wirkende Aussprache, ohne dass man das Gefühl bekommt, in ein Puppentheater geraten zu sein. Ermüdungsfrei kann ich seiner angenehmen Stimme und perfekt artikulierten Aussprache über etliche Stunden folgen. Besser geht es nicht.

Teil 1 und 2 sind sensationell und bauen die fantastische Welt und den Spannungsbogen meisterhaft auf. In Teil 3 wird den Helden einfach zu oft bis dahin nicht vorhandene geistige Beschränktheit untergejubelt, damit sie auch in alle Fallen und Verhängnisse geraten, die der Leser längst durchschaut hat. Das ist schade.
Zudem wird der Religionsfokus extrem aufgezogen. Während in den ersten beiden Teilen eine neue Religion mit all ihren Eigendynamiken durchaus spannend zu betrachten ist, dreht sich gegen Ende fast alles darum. Und der vom Glauben Abgekommene muss wieder Vertrauen in seine Religion finden usw usf. Das Ende wurde vom leichten Eindruck begleitet, gerade ein kreationistisches Propaganda-Werk fertig gehört zu haben.

Trotz all dem insgesamt immer noch eine klare Empfehlung. Hat lange viel Spaß gemacht, sticht raus aus dem Fantasy-Einheitsbrei, kann man sich ruhig geben.

It didn't live up to the hype!

The story, with all of its action scenes, was quite good. But.....

...there were many things, that I disliked.

1) Sanderson's ability to write interesting characters SUCKS! There was no emotion or depth to his characters. This made the whole book seem very juvenile and one dimensional.

2) It was so repetitive. Either the book wasn't edited properly, or he thinks that his audience are daft and need everything explained to them twice. It was annoying.

3) Blatent sexism. What was with the PRUDE comments about Vin having to put her clothes on? This happened twice!!! SO WHAT if a girl is standing there in her undergarments...GET OVER IT!!! The whole thing about the dresses...really?

4) Michael Kramer was not my favourite narrator of all time. It was a solid effort, but nothing memorable or special.

I have listened to quite a few Sanderson books. This would have to be my least favourite so far, which is very unfortunate.

Grey and dull

Could not get excited neither about the story nor the characters. The reading was monotonous and dull, cannot discern the different characters too well from his reading. The language used does not conjure up very vivid imagery, I struggle to remember large parts of the story and fall asleep easily out of boredom. Had looked for a fantasy book to capture me like Harry Potter with good character development. This one got so many good reviews from the community, I gave it a try. I don't usually give such harsh criticism, but I am just disappointed and don't get the hype.

No chapterisation / Keine Kapitel

Great speaker, Great story. Horrible audiobook. No chaperisation. A single 24h audio track. Impossible to navigate.

Großartiger Sprecher, tolle Geschichte. Unmögliches Hörbuch. Keine Kapiteleinteilung. Ein 24h-Kapitel. Unmöglich vernünftig vor- oder zurück zu springen.

A very nice book!

I really liked almost all of the characters, some not as memorable as others but still good characters! Vin was a fine protagonist and Kelsier was a good supporting character.

that was so good. it fulfilled both of my femal power fantasys of dating a high noble on a ball and at same time beeing able to figh like a boss with magic and dagger's 10/10 !

Really good but with a rather boring villain

First of all, I really enjoyed the interesting world, exciting magic system and good characters.

The only point I dislike is the design of the villain. He is too shallow. There is a lot of unused potential for exploring evilness as a systemic problem, with the corrupting influence of power.
Also, this is quite subjective, but I found it a little bit too religious in some parts…

I loved the books and in my opinion the speaker did a really good job here. i am able to understand everything pretty good and i am not a native speaker.

Amazing and gripping story

Lovable characters and the magic system is really interesting and I found myself immersed in this red sun and ashes filled country. I'm looking forward to seeing how the story develops.
