This is a brutal and beautiful book. Many sections refer to acts of torture and sexual violence perpetrated by those who seek to dominate the world depicted in the novel. Others are about community and human connection. Overall, Starhawk's book is about the fantastical possibility of non-violent resistance. The ethics of radical love the author promotes in interpersonal relationships as well as in social and political life may strike some as overly idealistic or naive, but the book is still interesting in how it reflects on what powers, if any at all, can oppose the utterly destructive forces of imperialism and militarism.

A dark yet powerful utopian narrative

This is one of the best novels I've read or listened to in a long time. But be warned, it's not apt at all as a bed-time story! It's so well written that you just dive into the story and see everything as if in a movie. And the narrator is just awesome. They give each character their own voice and even sing the songs creating a magical space. A space I just couldn't escape, pressing on Extend timer by half an hour for innumerable times until early morning... And every minute of lost sleep and gained imagination was surely worth it. ❤️

Brilliant story about overcoming tyranny and tyrants. Reclaiming does work miracles, is truly worth learning healing technics.
