This is one of the best stories I have ever read/heard. It touched my longing for eternity which I think the source of all love has planted into the heart of every one of us. This world cannot fill it, but it will one day be fulfilled.

The whole book seemed to drag a lot more than the first one. Maybe it's just me but I wanted a bit more to happen, still a great book.

Loved it!! Apart from dissapointing settling for "LOVE" as the driving force of the universe. Seemed cheap to me tbh. But i guess one cannot expect anything more from human perspective. Although I certainly do not fault the author or book for this lack. We, as humans, simply know no better. AND I think that's A. O. K😁

Tolles Hörbuch-Umsetzung, wenn auch nicht mit mehreren Sprechern, wie der erste Teil. Trotzdem hat der Sprecher mir super gefallen.
Das Buch ist eines dieser Bücher, nach deren Beendigung man erst einmal in ein tiefes schwarzes Loch fällt und sich denkt...und jetzt?
Zusammen mit Dune ganz weit vorne in meiner Liste von Lieblingsbüchern in dem Genre.

A fantastic sequel which ties up all the loose ends of the first part.
The voice was absolutely brilliant and a joy to listen to.

Fantastic Voyage

Coming from it's prequel, Hyperion, the Fall of Hyperion is for sure different. The biggest difference is the addition of many new elements to the world and revealing the actual scope that the story had in the previous book. It seems that the story is really weighted down by all the new information and ambition, sometimes even adding elements that are so extreme that barely make sense. But Simmons try hard to give an ending to the story of the pilgrims and in most cases he succeeds at tying all the loose knots. The narration is also different from the prequel with even more points of view and sudden jumps among them that should be harder to follow but again Simmons shows that if done right, many narrators can add a multisided aspect to the tale. The sci-fi is epic, the scope is one of the biggest I've read in a y scifi book, the tales of the protagonists are relatable and intimate, the emotions are real and the motivations and twists make sense. Even though I consider it a lesser book than its predecessor, The Fall of Hyperion is still up there with the greatest scifi works.

Die Geschichte ist zwar kreativ und auf epischer Skala geschrieben aber der Autor wiederholt sich immer wieder wirklich zu oft. Man hat bei vielen Stellen den Eindruck er wäre ein frustrierter Dichter. Allerdings ist das Buch unterhaltsam und als Audio Buch empfehlenswert vor allem weil man bei den langsamen Stellen etwas anders nebenbei gleichzeitig erledigen kann 😀
