Inside a Los Angeles church, on the altar steps, lies the blood-soaked, decapitated body of a priest. Carefully positioned, legs stretched out, arms crossed over the chest, the most horrifying thing of all is that the priest's head has been replaced by that of a dog. Later, the forensic team discover that on the victim's chest, the figure 3 has been scrawled in blood.
At first Detective Robert Hunter believes that this is a ritualistic killing. But as more bodies surface, he is forced to reassess. All the victims died in the way they feared the most. Their worst nightmares have literally come true. But how could the killer have known? And what links these apparently random victims?
Hunter finds himself on the trail of an elusive and sadistic killer, someone who apparently has the power to read his victims' minds. Someone who can sense what scares his victims the most. Someone who will stop at nothing to achieve his twisted aim.

Very Good, awesomely done
I've read this book 4 times and now decided to listen to it for the 5th - worth it!
I enjoy podcasts and audiobooks so I've heard a lot of different narrations and this was one of the best. The narrator did different accents, spoke Spanish with a very good accent and changed their intonation and timbre depending on which person was speaking. It was easy to follow and generally very enjoyable to listen to.

Widerwärtig brutal und sadistisch
Ich hab das Buch nach dem 2ten Mord an den virtuellen Nagel gehängt. Wer seinen Spaßt dran hat einen abartigen, super sadistischen Killer beim Spaß haben zu begleiten, für den mag das Buch was sein.
In Zukunft werd ich nen großen Bogen um Chris Carter machen.
Die zwei Punkte bekommt der Mist nur weil der Sprecher wirklich gut ist.

Sehr spannend und unterhaltsam
Sehr spannende Geschichte. Großartiger Sprecher. Das einzige was mich auch schon im ersten Band etwas gestört hat, ist, dass man nicht wirklich selber auf den Mörder kommen kann. Und erst „in letzter Minute“ sich alles auflöst. Aber ansonsten wirklich fesselnd.

Great book, amazing voice!
I usually have a hard time with audiobooks because of the narrator's voice. But this one I finished in almost on go because the voice was so captivating and perfectly balanced between the different characters. I loved it!

Amazing couldn't stop listening
because of the catchingly told story that makes your heart thumping vigorously with its detailed descriptions.
