THE STORY

It’s definitely a acceptable conclusion of the series. Unfortunately, it lacks, even if understandable, depth. Still wholesome audiobook.

Interesting insight in some primarchs perspective on the siege. Unfortunately only a very limited amount.

The Siege of Terra concludes in the epic duel between The Emperor and the Warmaster. Where the other books could be meandering from time to time, this book is clear and straight to the point. The high points land and almost everything which has been built up, concludes in a satisfying way. This would be under my top 10 Books, if you didn't have to fight your way through some of the lesser books in the Series.

A worthy end

The story has some big contradictions to 40k, particularly in Abbadons case.
I hope there will be some „epilogue“ books to tell the story of some Primach‘s that got no coverage at all, like Corvus ore Fullgrim and some others.

Overall the the ending of the Horus Heresy is a fitting and good ending in 30k context with a few letdowns like lost Plotlines and an bit to much reliance on filler sentences like „loud silence, silent screaming, deafening etc………..“

Jonathan Keeble remains my Favourite Narrator for the Heresy. Ad Dan Abnett - My Favourite of the Authors and you get this Three Part Epic finale.

It All began with a Jest. I was there when Horus Slew the Emperor. Yet we are here now.

It rings of Hollow Victory, Beginnings of an eternal End.

And it does so masterfully.
And it goes all in on the mind bending Madness that engulfs the World.

And some Lies become true. And some more Truths end up lies.

In the End? Everyone is just one in millions, suffering under a decaying and careless Behemoth of an Empire, ever dying, consuming its citizens. There is only War, Death, and the Laughter of Careless Gods in the grim Darkness of the Future.

And this, is where this Future begins. With End and Death.

Und nun ist sie vorbei, die Horus Häresie.
Dan Abnett hat viel getan um zu zeigen, wie sich die Religion um den Meister der Menschheit trotz der Imperialen Wahrheit gebildet hat und warum der Imperator als Gott verehrt wird. Natürlich wird dieses Buch nicht allen gefallen; einige Plot-Stränge (wie zum Beispiel Oll P. und der Imperator) sind im Ende im Sand verlaufen, aber das ist bei so einer Bücherreihe wohl unausweichlich.

Es gab auch einige sehr schöne Easter Eggs; was war nochmal der Name der Archivistin, die Sindermann getroffen hat? Und wie hieß nochmal die Gründerin der Cognitae? ;)

Ein würdiges Ende

Sehr gut geschrieben und gesprochen. Kann kaum glauben das es vorbei ist und erwarte die weiteren Bücher.

Let’s just tell it as it is: those three books could have been one. It’s a good finale but it’s just dragged out which hurts the tension of the books. All in all this is probably the bottom line under all the solar war books it just peaked at the peak.
