I read the complete Wheel of Time epic about 10 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Watching season 1 of the Amazon prime series made me nostalgic and craving more. I've listened to books 1-3 in the space of a week, and I am beginning to suspect that it is habit forming. Fortunately, I clean or cook while listening so my house is looking spotless.

I dislike the trope of the damsel in distress, so it's no as good as it could be.
But the story is quite captivating and when some puzzle pieces fall into place it's satisfying.

Was mich persönlich sehr stört und auch langweilt, sind die permanenten „Machtkämpfe“ zwischen Mann und Frau! Es ist teilweise wirklich enervierend.
Die meisten Charaktere finde ich zunehmend sympathischer, bis auf Rand (der Drache)! Es gibt kaum einen „Helden“ der mir unsympathischer ist als er!
So dermaßen dumm und arrogant, dass ich es manchmal kaum aushalte zuzuhören!

The Horn of Valere was found and blown - but who did it? What I do like about Part two of the wheel of time that not only the obvious hero is THE ONE. There are others as well and do not forget about them. I still like the adventures our four (or are ther mor now?) main characters encounter. They are in a process of learning. And all their fates are somhow connected.

I am returning the audio books cause I just can't deal with those gender stereotypes. The men are mostly kind of broody and "don't understand women", the women are mostly bossy, often quite irrational and can't for the life of them keep their temper in check.
Don't get me wrong: All these traits may be found in a character or characters that I might like or at least respect as someone that I feel could be real.
But I NEED more variety. Not just from one gender to the next. And of course, the books are older, "from a different time", but I don't care any more. I can't ignore it, cause it's too much.

One last note: The speakers only throw you off in the beginning. Just don't compare to Rosamund Pike too much and with a little time you will get used to the American accents and the different pronunciations of some names.
