I like the reader. I like that the couple doesn't fall in love an gets married in three weeks. Both have to grow and overcome huge issues. The hero has to learn how to live with grief. The heroine needs to find the confidence that was taken from her by a gaslighting manipulative "mother". The side characters are strong. The book tries to deal with the horrible tangle of racism, colonialism and missionary work in a good way in my opinion. Yet I am a white european christian, so I can hardly judge. But at least I want to learn more now.

Believable love story, interesting historical back

Die Entwicklung der Liebe dieser beiden Charaktere war wunderschön. Es war ein etwas andere Liebesroman einer in welchem es nicht um den Kampf um die Liebe selbst ging sondern vielmehr die Beiden Protagonisten die Liebe zueinander gefunden haben während sie sich selbst gefunden haben. Eine einfach schöne Geschichte
