    Inhaltsangabe

An international business expert helps you understand and navigate cultural differences in this insightful and practical guide, perfect for both your work and personal life.

Americans precede anything negative with three nice comments; French, Dutch, Israelis, and Germans get straight to the point; Latin Americans and Asians are steeped in hierarchy; Scandinavians think the best boss is just one of the crowd. It's no surprise that when they try and talk to each other, chaos breaks out. In The Culture Map, INSEAD professor Erin Meyer is your guide through this subtle, sometimes treacherous terrain in which people from starkly different backgrounds are expected to work harmoniously together. She provides a field-tested model for decoding how cultural differences impact international business, and combines a smart analytical framework with practical, actionable advice.

    Interkulturelle Kompetenzsteigerung

Grundsätzlich handelt es sich um ein hoch spannendes Thema. Die vielen praktischen Beispiele aus dem wahren Leben sind sehr einprägsam. Ab der Hälfte jedoch kommt eine gefühlte Wiederholung auf. Die Sprecherin klingt leider wie ein Computer.

    Culture compass

Being Brazilian, having lived in China, and currently working for an American company in Germany, I loved this book and fully endorse Erin’s observations. I specially like her humorous examples and her effective way to describe differences without depreciating any culture. Highly recommended for those having to deal with the challenges of working in multi cultural environments.

    A light on international relations

one of the best and most relevant books if you work with people from different cultures. either on your team, customers or even if you don't work with them but instead live with them ;)
this book has opened my eyes to a lot of situations and brought a smile to my face when I saw myself being described on the anecdotes of the book.

    Must Listen

I heard the title of this book multiple times but never had the chance to read it. Finally, I checked its audio version and its perfect. It contains very valuable information, provides example cases and is organized very well. The narrator has also done a great job. It is a must-listen audio book!

    An amazing book

The book was so well structured and the narrator was easy to listen to. Despite her voice being more on the monotone side, she did not fear to use her voice to emphasize words when needed, to change her tone to match the situation, and to pause appropriately.
Due to the book containing many foreign languages and vocabulary like Swedish, German and French the narrator clearly struggled with the proper pronunciation of certain words and sentences. She did a great job and she was still intelligible, but definitely made me chuckle from time to time.
All in all a great performance and an amazing book.

    New perspective

Before this book I had a sense of a common Optima as in leading, discussing and interacting with other people. Now this view has changed. Now I think more in terms of local Optima for each person, group or culture. Thank you Erin Meyer
