A classic

I've read the series before, but wanted to try the audio version for convenience. The narrators all do very good jobs on the various voices and emotions, and while it takes a bit to get used to the different voices from one book the the next, each is a joy to experience in its own.

Story-wise, Narnia is a beautiful place to escape to, and especially for children it contains valuable lessons of friendship, kindness and forgiveness.
I don't agree with the casual sexism and even occasional notable racism-like tendencies shown in some of the books, but due to the time of their origin, it is partially understandable why the author shared and included these views. I do, however, like that he added exceptions, and Aslan was shown to accept all, which is a lot more than other stories have done. I would still recommend this series to anyone, and use it as a chance to explain to children the importance of being kind and unprejudiced towards others. It's a lesson some grown-ups would do well to learn, also.

All in all beautiful stories, read wonderfully. 100/10 will listen to again.

Spannende Geschichte

Super Geschichte für Jung und Alt, erzählt eine spannende-, fantasievolle-, tiefgründige Geschichte. Mann taucht förmlich mit in das Land Narnia ein. Gleichzeitig erklärt die Geschichte auf verständliche Art Gut und Böse....
Höre das Hörspiel gerne zum Autofahren.
Sehr gut verständliches Englisch.
Bin seht Positiv überrascht, kann ich nur weiterempfehlen.

A very bad story.

Inconsistent story telling. No internal logic. Literal Father of Christmas hands out magical items a lá Ex Machina. Sexism, racism and a black and white view of people and the world as a whole. Do not recommend for children after the 1800s. Never recommend for people over the age of 3. No idea how people deluded themselves into liking this other than to drown themselves in their own nostalgia.

Fantastic story telling!

Such great fun for kids and grownups alike! Suspenseful and full of wisdom! I can recommend this collection of Barbie stories wholeheartedly!

Why do people talk about the book so well?

I can't believe people still recommend these books. The story is just plain bad and not even Patrick Stewart was enough to make me care.

Narnia is a delight - but sadly not reader!

I LOVE Narnia - truly! I was excited to find a Collection like this!
But while the 1st volume is great, the 2nd volume has a speaker that neither fits the story nor lets me enjoy the audiobook in any way shape or form. I had hoped that the first reader would read all volumes, but alas, that's not the case.
I thought I should warn people since It's not apparent based on the audio example that there are several different reader/narrators.
I haven't been able to make myself listen to more of volume 2 (which is a shame) because of the narrator, and I am dreading skipping this volume ... honestly, if it turns out that the same narrator is narrating some of the other volumes as well then I might cry (and return this collection, for then it is no collection at all!)
Fingers crossed that he only read one of the books and the other books have better narrators ...

Strong recommendation

The way these books involve the reader always got me. For my children the exploration of the Narnia stories is quite fascinating. I strongly recommend the Books for people of every age.

The readers are really doing well and great.

Accusations about sexism and racism have been lenghtly discussed. In my opinion there is plenty of room to read (or hear) between the lines. So everyone can get out, what he wants to get. Trying to listen to the whole story without prejudice, I could find neither sexism nor racism.

Overall the Chronicles of Narnia is a must have on audible!

Fantasiewelt

a la CS Lewis. Man benötigt ein wenig Zeit, um sich mit den Charakteren anzufreunden. Ist das einmal geschafft, hört es sich schnell weg.
