Look, I've had it bad for the girl with all the curves next door forever. She turned me down in high school and since I'm not a total douchecanoe, I lusted after her all by myself in my shower, and we stayed just friends for years. Now she's the adorkable librarian next door, and I'm the star quarterback of the best pro football team in the league. So when she asks me to be her fake date to her all-girls school reunion, I am totally down to show her off to the mean girls who bullied her back then so they can see just how incredible she is.
I'll be the best boyfriend they've ever seen. The best fake boyfriend that is. Until I find out from her slightly-stalkery classmates that she still has her v-card. I don't see how that is even possible. Not with how sexy and sweet she is. Could it be because she knows she belongs with me?
This curvy-girl and football-quarterback sports romance has a baddie plus-size woman who knows her own worth and a Bridgertons-meets-American-Football family you'll wish you were a part of.

slightly predictable storyline and the MMC is a bit over the top. QB for a pro football team, with 6 brothers who are also pro or college football players, 4 of which play for the same pro team, who also owns half the houses in the neighbourhood? too much tbh.
the "plus sized power" message felt a little heavy handed, almost all the mean girls are skinny bitches and almost all the "good" women (the friends and family of both MCs) are plus sized. it also feels like there are a lot of social media buzzwords thrown in, and it felt kind of jarring, especially when it was supposed to be part of the inner monologue of the MCs? for the FMC it's sort of believable, since someone living the experience of being plus sized and dealing with the social consequences might internalize those words and phrases, but with the MMC - who is initially caught off guard by the amount of hate the FMC gets on social media when they get seen together - it feels forced. the story/plot would have carried the body positivity message on its own without pushing the buzzwords so hard.
still, overall a good time for a quick read/listen.
adorable, but a little heavy handed

I also found certain aspects of the narration distracting, particularly the way female voices were portrayed. The changes in tone felt a bit unnatural at times and took me out of the story.
In terms of the romance, it felt underdeveloped and progressed too quickly for me to become fully invested.
Another aspect that didn’t work for me was the author’s writing style, especially the inner monologues. There are repeated moments along the lines of realizing something mid-thought (for example, confusing a vibrating phone with something else), which became somewhat repetitive.
That said, listeners who enjoy this style of internal dialogue may still find it engaging. For me personally, it wasn’t the right fit.
I’m giving this audiobook 1.5 stars — with the half star going to the effort and work of the narrators.
