Über diesen Titel

New York City is thrown into chaos by the assaults of the Bone Collector, a serial kidnapper and killer who gives the police a chance to save his victims from death by leaving obscure clues. The cops go to Lincoln Rhyme, an ex-NYPD forensics expert left paralysed after an accident on the job. Rhyme reluctantly postpones his ambitions towards suicide and puts together a forensic investigation team, enlisting as his eyes and ears young police officer Amelia Sachs.

Rhyme digs deep into the only world he has left - his astonishing mind - and slowly begins to narrow the noose around the Bone Collector. But the kidnapper is narrowing his own noose - around Lincoln Rhyme.

Ich gebe zu, ich habs mir letztlich auf Deutsch runtergeladen. Der Sprecher hatte eine sehr eigene Interpretation der Konversationen...

Buch zu empfehlen, Sprecher nicht

Jeffrey Deaver's "The Bone Collector" is one of my favorite stories ever. I loved the film, bought and read the book and now bought and listened to the audiobook.
It definitely is a must read. Deaver's reputation as a storyteller is well founded.

That's where this presentation was a little disappointing. While "good enough", the narrator does not hold a candle to the likes of R.C. Bray, Jefferson Mays or Ray Porter (to name a few) of my favorites... but this is not about the comparisons, but rather about where the narration was lacking.
The story, for those who don't know, is about the rush to save victums from a would-be serial killer, quite a lot of characters are interpreted to be very cartoony, with female voices generally being horrible and I guess very dry and emotionless.
Rhyme's voice is way too chipper for a person ... in his condition... the character lacked the touch of melancholy you'd expect in his voice.

Either way, do not let that dissuade you from not listening to this, as you need "Bone Collector" and the "Coffin Dancer" to get context to truely enjoy "The Empty Chair", which if you have not read yet; is even better than "Bone Collector".

The book is a masterpiece, the narrator not so much

Jeffery Deaver is a great writer, but has the narrator ever met a woman? His interpretation of women's inner monologues and speech would be more suitable for child characters. It is terrible and ruins the book.

terrible narration
