Quite a bit of the run time is low fantasy city/realm management and intercultural sensitivity building and at times I wished for a bit more high fantasy crap / weird shit, but it was fun to see them figure it out despite the mundane constraints. World building is good, characters and their interactions are very good. At times tone veers into mild slapstick, which I didn't dislike. There's a mildly cringe sex scene late in that didn't seem super necessary. You see the broad strokes of the finale coming but it's engaging enough that you wanna see it play out. Came to this author via his Warhammer 40k book about Huron Blackheart which is also pretty good. Overall very happy with the author, would definitely buy more books by them. Voice acting is very good. Had a good time, would recommend this book.
