I really enjoyed listening to this one. As a trans male it is so very nice to have a love story with a trans male character in it and feel represented and seen. Even though the story was narrated from a cis girls perspective it worked for me. This story gives one hope of a great lovestory around the corner and that‘s what books about love are supposed to do, right?

Two things that I didn‘t like that much: the ending was too rushed and over the top. I get the intention of having a kind of perfect happy ending, but why not make a timejump or something. Also Sam‘s character remained a bit flat throughout the book, I didn’t really bond with him that much, which makes sense I guess, because he didn’t narrate. But like I said: the change of perspective to a cis girl was nice anyway.

As for the speaker: Yes, I had to get used to her voice. Yes, the male voices she did were a bit weird in some parts. But in the end I really enjoyed how she narrated, I got used to it. I think it‘s also a thing of what we are used to in general. Male voices all over the place in audiobooks, a female voice might just be new to a lot of us.
