I’m incredibly lucky. I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth. My father is one of the wealthiest men in the world, and I stand to inherit everything one day. At least, that’s what I tell people, but it isn’t exactly true. The reality is that my life is not my own. Everything has been mapped out and dictated to me, right down to the man I will marry one day. I was distraught when I found out that I had been selected as a Tribute. That I was expected to go to Draig Island. Everyone knows that a large percentage of Tributes never make it back. I thought it was the worst thing that could happen to me.

It’s a pity that mind-bonding with dragons is incredibly dangerous and a very difficult feat to achieve. I am determined. I will get it right. I want to stay.
