but the take on the main character not being naive not stupid but also not good is refreshing. While constantly being a filthy life draining necromancer ;)

I love this book!

As I said I love this book, it's got a few parts I didn't like as much but the rest more than made up for it,
The only caveat is the narrator, I didn't like his voice, and it took me some time getting used to it.

Surprisingly catching

Besides the usual flaws of an overpowered protagonist, the story line and characters are interesting and lovable. The author found more often than not ways to make the main character believable and took great care to incorporate the motives and philosophy of Sylver.

Love the Story, from my whole heart.

I love this series, now in audio book format.

If you like LitRPGs with solid Characters, an really fascinating world, and fights and story in great detail, you will really like this.
The Voicetalent reading this book is not that great as he mostly sounds the same all the time, nonetheless it is enjoyable because of the story.

Give it a listen / read. :)

A refreshing Protagonist

The Protagonist ist the best thing about the story, he is one of the very few protagonist who I can see reaching immortality without MC level luck. He is cunning, tenacious, has no qualms about cruelty, loyal to his few friends and on the path to regaining his quit considerable power.
The story has some weaknesses. It feels a little aimless and rather like a loosely connected series of events.
The narrator is easy to understand but lacks variety which makes it harder to follow the story. Still, I’ll be on the lookout for book 2.

Minus two stars for the ending

The ending was so bad that I feel like swearing. There were several better opportunities to end the book, yet the author chose to end it mid conversation!? I am of half a mind to stop here, but the lackluster finish aside, the story was quite decent. Still, goodness gracious what a way to mess up.

A really fun ride with a funky Lich guy

Before i start.

Ignore the " xxx views on Royal Road" thing on any such titles. Those don't really tell ya if something is good or bad, simply cause if you got 100 chapters of 1000 words. You get way more views then someone with one chapter of 100k words.... about 60~70 times more. As some readers will be involuntarily lost in early chapters.

But if you're unsure like me if an audiobook fits for ya. Go to the website and read the unedited and heavily error prone version for a bit. Helps with the decision makeing ... if you like me can't give back titles to easily anymore. As i "abused" my right to give back trash i tested out xD.

The story here is quite good. Actually a contender for the top 3 audiobooks of this year. If i take out "the wandering Inn" Series.

Alot of funny moments, hilariously dark battle szenes and witty comebacks.
The MC Bro Lich is a good guy, if you like someone with a decent personality that is willing to murder for their family.
The female characters in here aren't just harem fanservice fillers and actually have a personality. He does get under the skirt of one lady quite quickly, but that's his charm working. Quite litterally. Outside of that, no other flings all around. Even if the encounters are heavily in the female side ( when he argues with someone or just talks / quests etc).
Which in fact, makes each character that gets introduced quite memorable. Even if they only get little screentime so to say.
The guild receptionist is my favorite. The voice for her had me laughing manically in the tram to work ... xD

Outside of that the story is quite good. Non-linear with segways and forks, drops and spirals.
No way you will guess exactly whats gonna happen. But the direction everything is going into is crystal clear. Fun Murder times.

Status Screens ... yeah they are there. But really minimalistic, quick and painless ones. Sometimes you get a quick 30 second readout or 10 second one. Rarely it is longer. Actually you dont notice them as much and they're added well into the storys flow. I would like less "ding: Enemy xyz died, you get more exp cause he was higher level then you" messages. But something like that comes from the original medium in written form, where it just works way better.

Generally expect Sylver to stomp enemys a plenty. But he will struggle a bit, do things in non-optimal ways or just scream inside his mindspace and throw out all the plans he made to angrily knock at someones door. He's the kind of "overpowered" MC that lost some or most of his strength, but still is pretty much a walking one man army. Even more so now that being a mage ... doesn't require you to be smart. Just kill some goblins and ya can get teleportation magic quite easily.

PS: I personally found the narrator doing a superb job. He got a good variety of voices. Just not as many squicky girly ones. Everyone is an adult with a bit deeper voice. Specially his cat impersonations or any demihuman ones.
