Incredibly, this plan actually works, inspiring a horde of TikTokers to swarm into the swamp in search of the Monster at the same time villains are on the hunt for Jesse’s treasure. Amid this mayhem, a presidential hopeful arrives in the Everglades to start his campaign. Needless to say, it does not go as planned. In fact, nothing in this story goes as planned. Früher dachte ich immer, dass Dave Barry maßlos übertreibt und ich seine Bücher deshalb lustig finde. Ich finde seine Bücher immer noch lustig, nur leider ist mir mittlerweile schmerzhaft bewusst geworden, dass seine Stories ziemlich nahe an der Realität sind und viele Leute in den USA wirklich so beknackt und irre sind, wie er sie darstellt.
Die Idee mit dem Mellonmonster (mit 2 "l") ist wirklich sehr gelungen und der Tiktok-Wahn mit viralem Schwachsinn gängige Praxis. Die aberwitzige Verfolgungsjagd mit Goldbarrem im Anhänger ist sehr lustig, ebenso die Episode mit dem Golfschläger schwingenden Kind, das einen der Charaktäre in den Weichteilen verletzt und dieser Unfall zum Youtube-Hit wird.
Für Dave Barry Fans absolut zu empfehlen
