Jean Edward Smith's Bush is a biography of George W. Bush, the 43rd president of the United States. Bush was born in 1946 into a powerful Republican political dynasty. His grandfather, Prescott, was a senator from Connecticut. His father, George H.W. Bush, served as CIA director and vice president to Ronald Reagan before becoming president from 1989 to 1993.
George W. Bush was an indifferent student and an aimless young man. His family connections, however, secured him a place at Yale and kept him out of active service in Vietnam. Family connections, reputation, and influence also kept him from suffering adverse consequences from his partying, womanizing, and drinking....
