Inhaltsangabe
The inspirational best seller that ignited a movement and asked us to find our why.
Discover the book that is captivating millions on TikTok and that served as the basis for one of the most popular TED Talks of all time - with more than 56 million views and counting. Over a decade ago, Simon Sinek started a movement that inspired millions to demand purpose at work, to ask what was the why of their organization. Since then, millions have been touched by the power of his ideas, and these ideas remain as relevant and timely as ever.
Start with Why asks (and answers) the questions: Why are some people and organizations more innovative, more influential, and more profitable than others? Why do some command greater loyalty from customers and employees alike? Even among the successful, why are so few able to repeat their success over and over?
People like Martin Luther King Jr., Steve Jobs, and the Wright Brothers had little in common, but they all started with why. They realized that people won't truly buy into a product, service, movement, or idea until they understand the why behind it.
Start with Why shows that the leaders who have had the greatest influence in the world all think, act, and communicate the same way - and it's the opposite of what everyone else does. Sinek calls this powerful idea The Golden Circle, and it provides a framework upon which organizations can be built, movements can be led, and people can be inspired. And it all starts with why.
Kritikerstimmen
"Start with Why is one of the most useful and powerful books I have read in years. Simple and elegant, it shows us how leaders should lead.” (William Ury, coauthor of Getting to Yes)
"Start with Why fanned the flames inside me. This book can lead you to levels of excellence you never considered attainable.” -General Chuck Horner, air boss, Desert Storm)
“Each story will force you to see things from an entirely different perspective. A perspective that is nothing short of the truth.” (Mokhtar Lamani, former ambassador, special envoy to Iraq)

Sinek is a good speaker, yet an average author..
I wanted to write this review for people like me (before hearing this audiobook), who have already seen some of the youtube footage available of Sinek's talk, but not this book. I'll definitely still recommend hearing this, yet I'll add some comments so you aren't too disappointed.
First of all I think that it was a good choice of me to buy this audiobook with Sinek as the speaker. I think for his message there is simply no other person who could spread it as well as him, because he is totally convinced of the thing he does (which the book is actually about - people and organizations being convinced of their "why"). If I'd bought the written book, I might have put it away after reading 2/3 of it, but like this I heard the full 7 hour+ talk and it was great.
Yet after thinking more about the content, I definitely agree with the people here who already commented that it has its lengths and much more that a lot of the stories and arguments are repetitive. Part of this - in my opinion - is wanted just like this so the message really diffuses into your brain, yet it is simply too much and the examples chosen (Apple especially) are way too repetitive. This is also what my title is based upon. I think he could've gone way more back in history and also choose different and more examples of leaders to show that his magic circle is acutally quite right. Take the roman empire or Alexander the Great. These are also examples of a "why" that many, many people followed. The dream of the leaders was to build an everlasting empire with a setup that "their" people believed in deeply. Actually quite sad examples, because for their how they (also) chose war, but definitely infused by the same logic. So basically what I am saying that he could've done more (historic) research before writing the book, organizing the material in a better way and thereby making this book or hearing experience even more valuable. I'd still give it 4 stars, because the message definitely spread to me.

Very good message, but highly repetitive
Lot of talking for a short message. At some point, things start repeating almost dogmatically, even with the exact same words. Sometimes clearly inaccurate, due to overly broad generalizations and fallible logic.
Nevertheless, it's a very good book, that can be recommended to all people who may set their own goals freely. The author has a strong point and brings it across. With a hammer.

Good start
There some good points in this book but it repeats itself and could be a little bit deeper while 1/2 as long.
If you like Simon this is a good read/listen.

Nice idea but too repeptive without any help.
Great basic idea. For that the author got 5 stars.
Then he got 1 star deducted for being overly repeptive while not giving more examples. Of all the examples 50% consist of apple and for some the other few (7-10 at max) he doesn't even state the why clearly (like Harley Davidson, eventhough he mentions the company about 10 times).
The most infruriating IMO though is the fact, that there is no information whatsoever on how to find the why and then only a little information on how to implement the why. If I buy a audio book I expect to have that in there. Especially when it takes more than 7 hours. I was waiting constantly for the author to help me find my why, but that part never came.
So if you are looking for a way how to find your why this book won't help. It will give you the basic concept only and two more points to work on (the why has to meassured and for a why to work you have to have somebody that knows what to do).
All in all disappointing in the end after a great start.

Repetitive
Got bored after the author told the exact same thing over and over again. Maybe he is used to less attentive audiences (business people), but I took it as an insult.

Repetitive
This could have been a 20 min TED talk... The idea of the book is not so deep that it requires 7 h of repetitive explanation. The 7 habits of highly effective people is much better.

Kein echtes Hörbuch!
Es ist nicht wirklich eingelesen, nur elektronisch produziert Simon Sinek hat anscheinend die Wörter vorgelesen, die vorkommen, den Rest macht der Computer. Richtig schlecht!

Nice narration/reading pace, empty book
The book itself feels like a repetition of the title over and over again, through slightly different examples, case studies and terminology. The case studies are interesting but so hardly pushes that the book feels like an ode to Apple and co. The concept is possibly valid, unlikely original, certainly intuitive but no more than ten pages would have been enough. The audibles narration itself is enjoyable. Clear accent and pronunciation.

Way too long
The main subject and idea is interesting but feels like it should've been a long article rather than a book. The author repeats himself over and over again without adding much of substance in each chapter.
I also found the reading to be obnoxious and arrogant and was wondering if that came from the text or the reader. Turns out the author voice his own book so that kind of answered my question.
I recommend skipping this book and just watching his Ted talks which I hear are quite good.
